School Lunch

After 30 peanut-butter-and-honey-sandwich sack lunches in a row, Phoebe asked to get a school lunch. We read the menu (very thoroughly since she is my child) and she selected "chicken & waffles". So southern. When I asked her about her big-kid dining experience she was proud to announce that she asked for just waffles, but they gave her chicken anyway. Then, a tad more sheepishly, she admitted that she was too shy to ask for pears and apples so Lunch Lady gave her fries. Blech. She's planning to be braver tomorrow and ask for applesauce lest she be stuck with peas!
