The following conversation was a result of my effort to avoid using the term "ice cream" in my description of the scoop she found in the kitchen drawer:
P: Mommy, what's this?
A: It's a kitchen utensil.
P: What's a utensil?
A: It's a device used to prepare food in the kitchen.
P: What's a device?
A: An implement used in the kitchen.
P: What's an implement?
A: A tool.
P: For the pizza?
I'd teach her about the word "persistence" but I think she already gets the idea.
